  5. Utah House majority leader admits paying woman

    Utah House Majority Leader Kevin Garn made an announcement Thursday that he sat nude in a hot tub with a then 15-year-old girl more than 25 years ago. Garn said he was 28-years-old at the time and the girl was 15. Garn made the announcement on the House floor on the last day of the state's legislative session and said he paid the woman $150,000 to keep quiet about the incident while he ran for Congress in 2002.

    A 20-month-old girl has been saved after falling into a pond near her backyard in Millcreek. Authorities said the girl went exploring in her backyard and then accidentally fell into the pond. The girl had a lot of water in her lungs and did aspirate. She was transported to the University of Utah Medical Center. She is expected to be okay.

    SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah lawmakers have dropped a bill attempting to ban the sale of nicotine-flavored candies across the state. Time ran out on the last day of the legislative session Thursday, stopping the proposal in the Senate. House Bill 71 would have also made it a class A misdemeanor to use a fake driver's license or ID card to purchase items like cigarettes. Previously the offense was a class C misdemeanor.

  20. FBI nabs two suspects in string of bank robberies

    FBI agents in Arizona have arrested two men suspected in a string of bank robberies, including one in Utah.  Police say the duo may be responsible for as many as robberies in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Utah. Joel Jay Glore and Ronald Michael Capito, both 42, were arrested Wednesday in the town of Linden, Ariz.  Linden is in Navajo County, in the northeastern part of the state.  Glore and Capito's alleged crime spree began in September 2009.
